AVA Neighborhood Watch - Vineyard Health Program
Collaborating Across Napa and Sonoma to Detect and Combat Red Leaf Disease.
An affordable, proactive program to detect red-leaf symptoms and map vineyard health and virus-risk zones, empowering you to prioritize vine-level actions this season and collect data for informed decisions before financial planning in 2026.
NOTE: We have worked with our technology partners on a special group rate to lower the cost for this limited time program in-order to get broad based participation.
This collaborative effort includes growers and vineyard management companies from all Napa Valley AVAs:
Proactive Vineyard Health Management With Scout:
Our vineyard intelligence platform delivers a complete solution for inventory, health monitoring, and virus mapping. Using our mobile apps, growers can perform guided and targeted sampling in the field. The Scout Mobile app allows additional field notes and photos to be captured. Trusted Data Collection
Secure operational framework that protects data ownership and confidentiality. All data remains the legal property of each landowner. Once the data is available to owners, they can optionally share insights with neighborhood groups to coordinate action and improve outcomes.
Proactive Vineyard Health Management

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the program actually deliver?
Scan your vineyard 4x faster than manual virus scouting on foot. We inventory the complete vineyard, mapped every plant, then create health and risk zones, guided sampling workflows, lab result tracking. It’s an end-to-end workflow — from detection to follow-up actions — not just aerial-level imagery
Our vineyard is managed by a third party Vineyard Management Company - do you work with them?
We work with more than ten vineyard management companies who have been trained on Scout and can provide scanning services. We are adding more every week. Please contact us or have them contact us and we can expedite the onboarding.
Can you recommend partners who can perform the scanning as a service?
We work with more than ten vineyard management companies who have been trained on Scout and can provide scanning services.
What kind of ROI can I expect?
Scouting and inventory can be done up to 8× faster for mapping, 4× faster for counts, with 10× more data, all at less than 9 cents per vine. Growers have saved 5–20 hours per block on replant management alone .
How quickly can I get results back?
Initial inventory results and red leaf symptomatic mapping are delivered within one week. The Scout mobile app and Scout Via provide realtime feedback. This means you move from scan to action this season.
What if I'm already a Scout customer?
Existing Scout customers can join the AVA program without disruption. This is a great opputunity to increase visibility to new vineyards and blocks and perform a single scan to inventory and check heath. You’ll gain the additional neighborhood-scale risk context while continuing to use the same Scout platform you already trust.
Do I need this program if my vineyard is already clean?
Yes. Even clean vineyards face risks from neighboring blocks. The AVA program quantifies risk without assuming you have a problem. Many growers use it simply to establish a verified baseline inventory and monitor changing conditions over time .
How accurate is the Data Collection?
Over the last year, our system learned to read vine photos with high precision. We deliver over 98% accuracy in inventory and plant mapping across customer blocks. Virus detection is a different challenge. Timing matters. Red leaf symptoms can appear late or look like water stress, heat damage, or normal senescence. Miss the window and you miss the signal. We normally recommend multiple passes to catch early signals vs. later post harvest scans. We also recommend PCR or Lamp testing as way to confirm disease presence.
Will the results make it look like I have disease even if I don’t?
No. The program identifies symptoms and potential risk zones, not blanket diagnoses. Results are structured to flag areas for closer inspection and testing, not to label your vineyard as infected .
How is my data protected?
All data remains grower-owned and confidential. The system uses a secure operational framework so your information isn’t commingled with other vineyards or exposed in ways that could affect land value .
